Yes, I did indeed get Eric out of bed at 6 am to go swimming. I am still faintly startled that I managed to accomplish this, given his, uh, aversion to the dawn hours.

He is, however, already making semi-excuses about repeating this exercise. Especially in winter. I'm not quite sure if his exhaustion is from the sheer effort of getting out of bed at that hour or the actual swimming. *grin*

Oddly enough, the exercise seems to have energised rather than exhausted me. Yay!

(I also walked to the nearest dry cleaners to drop off some stuff; my favourite dry cleaners have closed. These folk are almost twice as expensive. Grr.)

But I also walked to the station from the dry cleaners, so I feel entirely justified in going to Koko Black later today. :)

Edit: For the record, I managed 12 laps today, including 3 of backstroke and a quarter-lap attempt at freestyle/crawl, which ended because of the uncanny drowning feeling that it evoked.

The head of the Australian Federal Police wants a media ban on terrorism cases until all legal avenues of appeal have been exhausted.

Because, y'know, if the media stopped reporting on the AFP's failings, then they wouldn't have to suffer the embarassment and criticism of being caught out prosecuting some obviously innocent guy (like, say, Mohammed Haneef). I particularly like the allegation that the release of the police interview transcript jeopardised the case against Haneef, given that the then Minister for Immigration was leaking carefully selected bits of that transcript out of context to bolster his dodgy decision to cancel Haneef's visa.
