Jun. 20th, 2002 10:42 amMy sister's stick insect is making me very nervous. (She's on camp, so I get to take care of it.)
Tuesday morning, I found it unmoving on the bottom of the box. Sprayed it with water, got some fresh leaves. Eventually it ate half a leaf. Wednesday it didn't eat anything. Didn't even really move all day. Now, I appreciate that it was way too cold and I would have stayed in bed if I could, but it was really unresponsive. (As far as you can call an insect that pretends to be a stick unresponsive.) Anyway, brought it into the heated rooms and sprayed it with water (humidity is apparently good) and more fresh leaves. Nothing. Dad brought the cage he's been building for it (really cool, it's a metre long, about half a metre wide and high) into Mel's room and set up the heat lamp. Left it in there all night, with yet more fresh leaves. Finally found it eating this morning. *much relief*
Anyone know how much a healthy one is meant to eat??
