Sheesh, this is harder than it looks. Okay, here goes.
I guess it comes down to wanting the world to be a better place. Like the time I spend with my refugee kid. (I'm so excited, I got a hug last week! :) And I have kiddie drawings on my wall!) Or the tiny amount of money (like my weekly book budget) that helps my sponsored friend in Pakistan go to school. Fighting for the rights of women, everywhere. But particularly those who live in the horror and poverty of abuse and violence in the third world. I want a world where no one dumps a billion tonnes of grain into the ocean when there are starving children in Africa who can't pay for it. Where cost-effectiveness doesn't even enter into the considerations when you consider vaccinating refugees.
But it's not just the bad things. It's all the things that are beauty and passion and delight. Dancing. A beautifully written book. A new point of view. An answer to a puzzle. Someone who loves you. Dinner with a friend. An unexpected gift. Joie de vivre.
