It's hard when you're away from your support network in times like this.
Think of what they would do anyway. Console, commiserate, give you a shoulder, lend an ear, go to the pub with you, agree a lot, maybe pray for you if they are so inclined & so on.
Can you get by without that??
Your blank slate to start with has just become blanker than you realised. And from that aspect, perhaps you're in the best place to put this all behind you fast & move on.
BTW, while taking up with a girl might seem like a good idea (it does to me, infact, I have no idea what women see in men to be honest), I imagine that they could be just as soul destroying as a male. Just instead of having to look like Linda Evangelista, you have to look like Lucy Lawless instead.
Be yourself, if someone doesn't like that, then they're not worth your time.
