I've been a little bad about keeping this up-to-date. Started writing this update several times, but each time got distracted and the computer crashed. So this is going to be a short update at first. Little bits of what's been happening since the end of June.

Didn't end up going on camp with SAIL since I couldn't get time off work. Spent the week alternately at work and at uni. Started doing more housework (well, dishes and vacuuming and cleaning the bathroom) on a regular basis. (Not just during swot vac!) :)

We invited Will and Andrew over for dinner on Tuesday 2 July, but Andrew piked coz his parents didn't want him travelling home alone on PT. *shakes head* Are 18 year old guys really that fragile? Anyway, we invited Marcus over instead. That was all bad. I should remember that guys eat meat. Carnivores. Won't touch food without meat. *shakes head again*

Will made chocolate cake. *smug* :)

And he drives. The last long term one didn't drive. Refused to learn to drive. Was a general pain. But moving right along...

On Saturday, I made myself go to SAIL because I was so excited about seeing Elizabeth after camp. So naturally she didn't turn up. Still, it was a fun time in the nursery. Kids. Playdough. Alphabet readers. Crayons. Maybe I'll become reconciled to the concept of younglings yet. Hopefully before menopause.

Went down to Philip Island with Will and Cara and Nath and Anna on Saturday afternoon. Will and I got there first. You'd think that two bright young uni students could open a door with no trouble. Nope. Took some engine oil and 15 minutes before the lock would even consider admitting the key. It was a wonderful lazy weekend, despite the gale force winds outside. (And I mean that literally, the Burean of Metereology issued a gale warning for Philip Island.) Good food, good company, no work (well, except for the proofreading I had with me). We played pictionary/charades. We played 500. We ate great food (cooked by Nath). We drank great cappucinos/hot chocolate (made by Nath). We went shopping and knitted (more below) and walked on the beach and visited the Nobbies and ate fudge. Oh, what bliss.

I deeply regretted having to leave to come home on Monday. But most importantly...

I learnt to knit! It's all Anna and Cara's fault. Anna had a gorgeous ball of the fluffiest multicoloured wool that she was making into a scarf. Me, I'm a sucker for luxurious fabrics and threads. Cara obligingly lent me her practice wool and some needles. I spent the weekend trying to work out how I started with 24 stitches in a row and ended up with 35. Yesterday, Mum took me shopping, so I picked up some needles and a ball of wool. I worked out where I was picking up the extra stitches. Melanie got all excited too. Melanie and I are now the proud owners of about a foot of scarf! :)
