Y'know, I wonder what it'll be like when I get old. Coz I already have so much trouble just getting up everyday. Never mind. I had a good weekend.

Friday night, our cooking teacher had to bail out of our last class because she's heading out to France early. So we had Thai takeaway. I love our local Thai place's Crying Tiger Salad. Sesame seed oil and coriander and a touch of chilli and basil and mint...

Saturday was a gloriously sunny spring day, albeit a couple of days early, since we start our official seasons on the first day of the quarter. (Apparently it's too complicated to use the same day as everyone else in the world.) We cancelled our first house inspection on the grounds that the floorplan was awful, so we slept in and had a lovely breakfast. In between house inspections (they were all a bit disappointing), I squeezed in a bit of gardening and planted my roses - two Papa Meilland (one for me in a pot, one for our landlady in the front bed in front of our bedroom) and an Amoretto (also in a pot). I also planted some basil seed in the herb garden. Hope it sprouts. The pea plants needed propping up again. They always need propping up. I did not get to planting my Tasmanian rainforest seed (huon pine and myrtle beech). I don't know if it's still good, but even if it's not, it's not like I lose anything by sticking it on some wet peat pellets.

Sunday was productive, work-wise. I'm building a website for our cooking teacher (in part because I want to know what's Going On and I figure this is one way to get the news early *grin*). So I fiddled and fiddled and finally sat down and wrote some text and played with the image editor and made her a banner. It's kinda pretty. Even Eric says so and he does this kind of thing professionally.

There wasn't any gardening though. There was hail. There was lots of hail. And it was gloomy and cold outside. So I stayed in and cooked poulet sauté à la bretonne. I love this recipe. And we made mashed potatoes and ice cream with hot chocolate fudge and ground hazelnuts.
