Well, that was productive.
I had dinner with a cousin on Friday to discuss her new business. I love business setup stuff. I'm not quite as sure I'd like running a new business, but the start up and strategy stuff is fun. I wish management consulting wasn't such an unhealthy lifestyle.
Saturday morning, I nursed my other half through a nasty football-and-beer hangover and did some long overdue mending. Saturday afternoon, I did some reading and laundry, then went to visit a friend for a spot of tea and garden-raiding. I now have a bunch of parsley seedlings, some of which are in a window box, some of which are in my Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme (plus Spring Onion) garden. I also have a bunch of geranium and rosemary cuttings. (I already have rosemary, but hers has flowers all the time and they're bright blue!) And an interesting ground cover thing.
Yesterday was gardening galore. We went to the Camberwell Market, tipped off by one of our neighbours that there might be cheap pots there. We found two hanging baskets and a couple of medium-large terracotta pots for strawberries. Plus someone selling off their bead collection in neatly organised boxes. Then there were dishes and lunch and a nap, followed by me being very good at Bunnings. I planned. I made a list. I did not buy anything not on the list. *beams proudly*
So now the garage has lots of potting mix and all the strawberries and lemongrass plants are in the ground. (And there were about 25 strawberry plants.) What's with strawberry plants anyway? You have to put one end of the crown, the bit where the roots join together, into the ground. But the other end MUST NOT be buried. This is all fine, except where the ends of the crown are, oh, half a cm apart... The neighbour who tipped us off has also suggested that we make a nice lavender hedge along the front of the property, which would be delightful.
There was home-grown mâche and baby spinach salad for dinner.
(And despite three and a half hours lugging potting mix and pots and plants around in the cold, I am NOT SORE today. Have I mentioned the magic of arnica? I know, homeopathy doesn't sound like it should work. But it does. It works amazingly well.)
