Rejection No. 3 - but with good results!
Mar. 4th, 2008 10:12 pmWell, a couple of weeks ago, I got a phone message saying that I hadn't made the shortlist for a policy job. I actually applied for that one back in November, so I wasn't that surprised.
BUT... when I rang the head of the selection panel for some feedback, we had a really good discussion about what was expected at the EL1 level in a policy position. And... *drumroll* ... she offered me a three-month acting position in her team (not the one that I applied for) at the higher level.
So I started this week on Monday and have spent a whole pile of time reading about the Commonwealth planning and reporting framework. And tomorrow I'm going up to Canberra for the day to meet the team (and catch up with my old graduate buddies) and find out what I'm going to actually do!
