Amusing phone call:

Lin: Hello?
Polite LadyVoice: Hello. Can you tell me how many titles you have?
Lin: Pardon me? Titles?
Polite LadyVoice: Books only, please. How many books are on your shelves?
Lin: um... I haven't counted exactly, but my best estimate is ten to
twelve thousand. Why do you ask?
Polite LadyVoice: Oh, then you are a good-sized establishment. And what
is your ratio of new-to-used?
Lin: Who is this? Why do you want to know how many books I have?
Polite LadyVoice: Isn't this a bookstore? *pauses* The Book-Go-Round?
Lin: No. This is a private residence.
Polite LadyVoice: ... And you have THAT many books?
Lin: Are you trying to reach a bookstore, ma'am?
Polite LadyVoice: I'm terribly sorry. I seem to have misdialed. I
apologize for the intrusion... do you really have THAT many books?
Lin: *laughs* Yes, I do. But my husband and children helped.
Polite LadyVoice: And I thought *we* were bad.
Lin: The Book-Go-Round's number begins with 8, not 2.
Polite LadyVoice: *laughs* So which bookstore would you recommend?
Lin: Book-Go-Round is quite good, and so are Space Cat, Lincoln Avenue,
and Old Orchard. Hicklebee's and Linden Tree for children's titles.
Polite LadyVoice: *laughs* This was much better than dialing correctly!
