Well, after visiting the Forks in Winnipeg, where we saw a very interesting intertribal pow-wow and bought much yummy food (Mmmm... maple fudge. Oh yeah, and Melanie had her first beavertaill.) - we proceeded to catch our train to Edmonton. The journey was at shorter - only overnight instead of 36 hours - but we insanely decided to wake up at 1.30 a.m. to take a picture at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan as part of my proof that I will indeed visit all 10 provinces of Canada this summer. :)
In order to stay awake, I borrowed Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix from a passing child. (Well, from the child next door to our seats, as he was going to sleep.) Unfortunately, while effective in keeping me awake until 1.30 a.m., this also kept me awake until 4.30 a.m. in order to finish the book! Oh well. I really did want to know who died. (No, that's not a spoiler, Rowling has been telling people someone would die for months.) I have to confess, I am slightly disappointed by the way this series is going.
For the next couple of days, we're staying with a lady called Christie and her family in Edmonton, Alberta. Today we went to the West Edmonton Mall, which is famous for being the largest mall in the world (at least until America recently built a larger one). It is insanely huge! Inside the mall there is a small marine park, complete with aquariums containing sharks, turtles, fish, as well as dolphins and submarine rides. Oh, and a huge amusement park - upside down roller coasters and thrill rides galore. And a huge water park - many, many water slides and a wave pool. Plus Chinatown, a couple of movie theatres, and masses of shops, of course. We spent 7 hours there and didn't even get through the majority of the place. So we're just a little tired now.
Since the laundry's on the line and dinner's done, I guess it's time for bed. :)
