A small nocturnal arboreal mammal that has flaps of skin between front and back legs, which it can use to glide between trees. (Assuming, of course, that it has a sufficiently high starting point.) I understand that they're omnivorous.

The one that we saw was about as long as an adult hand. So cute!

I have no idea if you can keep them as pets in Australia. All our native animals are subject to the permit regime. I think [livejournal.com profile] drharper has some though.
